Dennis Ritter, LCADC

Dennis graduated from Pace University in 1967 with a Bachelor's of Business Administration and Marketing major. Dennis is a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor, having worked initially at Honesty House in 1989. Since that time he has also worked at Catholic Community Services, Overlook Hospital and finally retired his full-time career (on March 1st, 2008) at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center. Dennis joined HDAP part-time as an Intoxicated Drivers Resource Center (IDRC) counselor and also as an outpatient counselor, working with adolescents. Before making a career change working in the Addictions field, Dennis worked for Lucent Technologies and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Jersey.
Dennis is a recovering alcoholic wiht 26 years of sobriety (since 1981). He bleieves he experienced a spiritual awakening in 1981. This awakening followed years of unsuccessful attempts at recovery which included 28 day inpatient treatment and numerous medical detoxifications. He feels his past treatments and spiritual awakening allowed him to surrender to his disease. Dennis' message to newcomers is "don't quit until the miracle happens." He also believes that honesty plus change are essential ingredients to recovery as is acceptance.
Dennis enjoys both saltwater and freshwater fishing, working with model trains, doing stock market analysis, astronomy and paleontology.
